Environmentally-themed festival The dance ritual tells about man’s effort to protect and preserve the butterflies from harsh environmental conditions brought about by global warming and climate change---by propagating them inside netted gardens and butterfly farms in cities and urban areas---simulating an environment ideal for their sustained survival out in the real world. But until when shall we keep the butterflies in simulated gardens and afford them the freedom they deserve in the outside world? Shall we need the divine intervention of Senior Santo Niño for people to be enlightened of the need to preserve Mother Earth as responsible stewards of God’s creation? Hence, the establishment of the Villa Dolina Township’s Alibangbang Festival is imperative. OBJECTIVES Generally, the program intends to establish Villa Dolina Township’s Alibangbang Festival as key socio-cultural and environmental program designed to develop cultural and ecological awareness among the youth in Villa Dolina Township and its surrounding environs. Specifically, the program shall: 1. Enjoin youth participation as dancers, drummers/musicians, props artists and leaders for the festival; 2. Participate in the annual Sangyaw Festival of Tacloban City; and 3. Instill in the youth environmental awareness. |
